Sun City Resort in North West, South Africa!

Sun City Resort, located in Rustenburg should definitely be on your list of things to do while visiting South Africa. Sun City was kind of like the Atlantis of South Africa! It was a nice break from all of the traveling that we had been doing. A one stop shop for resorts, casinos, attractions, and activities!

We stayed at The Palace of The Lost City, a beyond luxurious experience. From the architecture down to the hotel staff treating you like royalty, you will not be disappointed. This hotel looks out over miles of jungle, waterfalls, beautiful pools, stairways and lush gardens. If you are looking for a romantic escape, this is it. But be sure to shut your windows at night unless you want to learn the hard way the human size monkeys will terrorize your room and take off up into the trees with your belongings! Not kidding.

For good reasons, Sun City is called “A World Within a City.” You can pack your itinerary with as many things as you like! We hiked, got lost in the largest permanent Maze in the Southern Hemisphere, checked out the crocodile sanctuary, spent some time in the interactive South African Hall of Fame, featuring some of the most iconic sports stars! We tried our luck at gambling, took advantage of the gorgeous pool to get some much needed R&R! But my very favorite part of the trip with going on a Safari! It is pretty much the reason that I have wanted to travel to South Africa my entire life!

The Pilanesberg Game Reserve is right outside of Sun City and bursting with wild life. We had the best tour guide and she was more than knowledgable taking us through South Africa’s third largest game reserves. We saw a family of lions eating a freshly caught zebra, giraffes, elephants, rhinos, antelope, leopards, and more. It is truly an incredible experience being out in the open with these beautiful animals. The only word I have for it is brilliant. I honestly cannot believe that I was able to check this off of my life long bucket list.
